It is regarded as one of the top centres of its kind in the world mainly due to its hi-tech proprietary technologies, as well as its extensive portfolio of activities and offered services. It is located in proximity to the University Hospital Brno and Masaryk University Brno.

National Cell and Tissue Centre is a joint venture between the Ministry of Healthcare of the Czech Republic and the majority shareholder PrimeCell Therapeutics.

The laboratories of the National Cell and Tissue Centre are divided into four separate laboratory operations:

The Department of Advanced Therapy is engaged in the development, clinical evaluation and production of medicinal products in the area of regenerative medicine. The production is performed in cGMP laboratories under Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) regime in accordance with EU legislation.

The Department of Cell Therapy is engaged in processing and storage of the maximum quantity of the stem cells obtained from umbilical cord blood and autologous hematopoietic cells from peripheral blood. The laboratories are equipped with the newest technology for the processing of stem cells using a fully automatic closed system.

The Department of Tissue Transplants is engaged in the collection, preparation, processing, quality control, safe storage and distribution of tissues from donors, including development of new tissue products according to the needs of doctors and patients. Another activity of this department is to provide services to medical facilities in the field of safe processing and storage of autologous musculoskeletal grafts. The department fulfills the parameters of a multi-tissue bank and is equipped with hi-tech laboratories in accordance with EU legislation for the operation of the tissue establishment.

The Department of Material Engineering develops and produces new types of nanomaterials intended for practical use, especially in tissue engineering and in the field of medical devices. It is also engaged in the development of solid and gel carriers. The department is equipped with a production line for the manufacture of nanofiber carriers, located in clean rooms. The goal of the material engineering department within applied research and development is to develop materials, which simulate the natural environment of the organism in the form of the Extra Cellular Matrix (ECM).

Device for the production of nanofi ber scaffolds for cell expansion nad medical materials from various types of organice polymers (PCL, PLA, colagen) unde the standards of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).
